LOS ANGELES AIRPORT POLICE PROMOTES THREE SWORN AND CIVILIAN PERSONNEL
(Los Angeles, California – February 25, 2015) Los Angeles Airport Police promoted three sworn and civilian personnel including two new Sergeants and one Principal Security Officer, during a promotional ceremony held at Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) on February 23rd at the Flight Path Learning Center.
Sergeants Bruce Autry Jr. and Shawnee Rogers along with Principal Security Officer Izorrie Petrus received their new badges from Los Angeles Airport Police Chief and Deputy Executive Director of Homeland Security Patrick M. Gannon. Gannon conducted the ceremony’s swearing-in before executive staff, family, friends and other police personnel.
“Supervisory positions are challenging but I have no doubt each of you will be successful and make the department proud,” Chief Gannon said. “Congratulations on this great accomplishment and I look forward to working with each of you.”
Sergeant Autry, a 15 year veteran police officer, started his career with the Burbank Airport Police Department and later joined the Los Angeles Airport Police in 2001. Sergeant Autry has held a number of collateral duties over his tenure including field training officer, gang intelligence officer, drug recognition expert and a member of the South Bay Gang Task Force. Sergeant Autry promoted to Detective in 2009 and was assigned to the ICE Task Force. In 2013, Sergeant Autry was assigned to the Crime Task Force where he organized the First Annual Cargo Symposium.
Sergeant Rogers, a 13 year veteran of the City of Los Angeles, was appointed the position of Los Angeles Airport Police Special Officer in 2003. She promoted to APOIII as a Field Training Officer. Sergeant Rogers possesses a Bachelor of Science Degree in Criminal Justice Management from Union Institute & University. She participates in and supports many department sponsored events such as the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Fund Police Unity Tour, Nevada Police and Fire Games and the Baker 2 Vegas Cup Challenge Relay. Furthering her education has been a key goal of Sergeant Rogers who assisted with the implementation of the Airport Police’s first Peer Support Program, due to launch later this year.
Principal Security Officer Petrus worked for the Port of Los Angeles as an Officer. He then worked for the Department of Water and Power as a Senior Security Officer (Sergeant), before starting a career with the Los Angeles Airport Police. Principal Security Officer Petrus Spent six years in the United States Navy and is also certified as a CHS III for the Board of Homeland Security. He attended the South Bay Police Reserve Academy at El Camino College. He is a certified Instructor for the American Heart Association, is certified as a CHS III Board of Homeland Security and is a member of American Society of Industrial Security. Principal Security Officer Petrus is assigned to the Security Access Control Unit.
