MAYOR GARCETTI OFFICIALLY KICKS-KICKS OFF "LAX PRESENTS" LIVE MUSIC PROGRAM FEATURING MUSIC, DANCE AND THEATRICAL PERFORMANCESYEAR-ROUND
(Los Angeles, California – May 31, 2017)Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti officially kicks-off “LAX Presents” live music program where guests will be treated to a variety of live music, dance and theatrical performances and special events at Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) year-round following approval by Los Angeles Board of Airport Commissioners of a $195,000, three-year contract to launch a pilot Musical Arts Program headed by Grand Performances (GP).
"LAX is the first and last impression of Los Angeles for people all over the world — and what better way to make that impression than by letting travelers experience the incredible artistry that makes this city the entertainment capital of the world,” said Mayor Eric Garcetti. “LAX Presents will fill terminals with live music, and bring the joy of L.A.’s cultural vibrancy to everyone who visits our airport.”
“LAX Presents” aims to enrich the airport environment, ambiance and guest experience with moments of cultural enlightenment. GP will produce and present approximately 18 performances this year, featuring a wide array of musical acts. The performances will alternate throughout terminals to ensure an LAX guest experience that is continually fresh, exciting and inviting.
GP is Los Angeles’ premier presenter of free, outdoor summer performing arts programs. They have over 30 years of producing musical arts performances at California Plaza in downtown Los Angeles.

The study also reported that LAX’s ongoing capital-improvement program creates an additional 121,640 annual jobs with labor income of $7.6 billion and economic output of $20.3 billion, $966 million in state and local taxes, and $1.6 billion in federal tax revenues.
LAX is part of a system of two Southern California airports – along with Van Nuys general aviation – that are owned and operated by Los Angeles World Airports, a proprietary department of the City of Los Angeles that receives no funding from the City’s general fund.
