LEVEL LANDS AT LAX WITH ECONOMICAL SERVICE TO BARCELONA

            (Los Angeles, California – June 1, 2017) LEVEL, a new low cost long-haul airline brand, inaugurates service from Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) to Barcelona twice weekly, featuring Premium Economy and Economy on Airbus A330 aircraft and operating from Tom Bradley International Terminal (TBIT).

            LEVEL is part of International Airlines Group (IAG), parent company of British Airways, Iberia and Aer Lingus and is a codeshare partner with American Airlines. Angelenos can connect quickly and easily to over 50 European cities including Paris, Rome, Berlin plus numerous Spanish domestic destinations.

            Willie Walsh, IAG’s chief executive said: “This is the start of a fantastic new adventure for IAG. LEVEL’s sales are well ahead of our expectations in all markets and the brand has resonated with a new audience, many of whom are flying long-haul for the first time. This is just the start - in 2018, LEVEL will increase its fleet to five aircraft and we are considering other European bases for the operation. We’re really excited about LEVEL which offers amazing fares, stimulating demand by providing people with more choice”.

            Checked luggage (in addition to a free cabin bag), meals, seat selection and the latest movie releases are complimentary for customers flying in premium economy. Those travelling in economy can chose what they want to buy based on a menu of choices.

              All customers have access to next generation inflight technology with a wide range of onboard entertainment options, including high speed internet. Customers flying with LEVEL are able to earn and redeem Avios – the loyalty currency for IAG’s airlines. This gives them the opportunity to fly to 380 destinations across the Group’s network which sets LEVEL apart from other long-haul low cost carriers. Flight schedule for LAX:

  • Flights from Los Angeles operate twice a week on Thursdays and Sundays departing at 2140 and arriving into Barcelona at 1825 the next day (all times local).

An economic study based on 2014 operations reported LAX generated 620,610 jobs in Southern California with labor income of $37.3 billion and economic output (business revenues) of more than $126.6 billion.  This activity added $6.2 billion to local and state revenues and $8.7 billion in federal tax revenues.  The study also reported that LAX’s ongoing capital-improvement program creates an additional 121,640 annual jobs with labor income of $7.6 billion and economic output of $20.3 billion, $966 million in state and local taxes, and $1.6 billion in federal tax revenues.

            LAX is part of a system of two Southern California airports – along with Van Nuys general aviation – that are owned and operated by Los Angeles World Airports, a proprietary department of the City of Los Angeles that receives no funding from the City’s general fund.
